yes these are supposed to represent the characters

What's this project about?

This project is a personal project of mine. I don't know how this console port of a 2012 phone game has managed to be the one thing that makes me make a huge writing project, but here we are! I really liked RADIOHAMMER as a game, and I really wish that Arc System Works had somewhat developed these characters a little bit more (plus i know arc systems can write good characters. looking at you bridget guilty gear.). There's a couple of flaws, my gripes are mainly with chapters 1 for the plot and 2 for its designs (not everyone's going to know you're trying to reclaim a symbol bigots took). Yet still, I love the game and its characters, and even if it's only me giving it, I want them to recieve more love.

Basic Questions

How will this project work?

Mainly through short story Tumblr posts, with a focus on text and some images for the more action-heavy bits. Images are unlikely to go past the lineart stage unless it's a crucial one or it's a character reference. As for text, there will be Shows (like the Chapters in the actual game), Intermissions (more slice-of-life), and Talk Show Tuesdays/Thursdays (script-style, more will be used for silly little things. Think Area Conversations in Project SEKAI). I may also post my own thoughts on the game, the stories, or something else from time to time. There may be cases where I share just the plot points and later develop the story.

Schedule?

Not really, but to be specific:

  • - I will try to post Story and Intermission parts weekly, but this may change if I have a huge backlog or if it's a seasonal story. In such case, this may result in more posts.
  • - The opposite will be true if I've got writer's block or if the relevant artworks take a while. If real life circumstances render me unable to work on this for a while, an announcement will be posted.
  • - Talk Show Tuesdays/Thurdays won't be every Tuesday/Thursday, but they'll only be posted on these days.
  • - Asks will be answered when I feel like it.
  • - Admin rambles will also be posted whenever, but you can pretty much guarantee there will be one after each Show or Intermission is finished.
  • To sum up, I will try to have a schedule but I can't promise that.

Will this be avalable outside of Tumblr?

Can't really promise that. I may keep archives in Ellipsus as backup, but I'm unlikely to post outside of Tumblr. Sorry bout that.

Do I need to know what happens in the game?

Nope! Not much happens story-wise in the actual game anyways. Like I said - the plot for chapter 1 and the boss design for chapter 2 can very quickly put people off, and I'd really rather avoid focusing on those, for everyone's sakes. The events of the game will be canon in DIAL, but I'm not likely to go into detail into what happened. I'll probably make a post recapping the game's events though, for clarity.

Is anything from the game changed?

Mainly design-wise, Wayne and Numi have full redesigns (for wayne it was because you do not associate a character with rap and hip hop, make the theme song a banger of a rap, give them locs and then make them white, while numi's was more for lore reasons and also because i could), while July and Lita more have minor adjustments. As for writing, the only two adjustments are the station's fame because I don't want to go off on tangents making new characters purely for different genres, and the only canon age. Wayne is 18 according to the 3DS game manual, but in DIAL he's 20. No way someone who's 18 could be the director of a radio station.

Can I make fancontent for this?

Yes! The more people I get interested in this the happier I am. Two things I will say though, avoid making NSFW because I am not comfortable with that, and avoid shipping until I get the basic relationships fleshed out. I really don't want anyone accidentally shipping something problematic, especially with some of the plot I got drafted. There will be shipping, don't worry, but I don't want this project to be only about that.

Where can I find the game/music?

For the game, even though I think the phone version is gone, it's got console ports for the Switch (which is what I play on) and I'm pretty sure there's also a PS5 port? It suffers a little bit from originating from phones, but it's still a fun play. As for the music, the main composer for the game (who did at least 75% of the music), Yeong Il-Seo, uploaded most of the album versions of the OST on Youtube. I've also heard all the album versions are on Spotify, although I haven't had any luck in finding them.

The 3DS version also mentions an e-book spinoff, and I haven't had any luck in finding it so far (and part of me is pretty sure it might be lost media or a potential mistranslation). If someone does have the e-book though, preferably in English but any language is fine, please contact me!
